Fire Road Event
This past Saturday (July 6) several club members participated in the annual Fire Road Dirt Fondo in Cedar City. Distances were 100K, 60K and 25K. Congratulations to Craig Egerton, Brian and Chanda Jeppson for placing in the top of their age categories.
Memorial Day Century Ride
The summer season got off to a good start with the annual Color Country Cycling Club Century Ride. The ride went through Kanarraville and out to New Harmony, back to Cedar City then to Enoch, the Gap on into Parowan and back to Cedar City.
The weather was great and the company was too. We had about ten people that participated with three completing the full century. Thanks to Marnie Horman and kids for staffing the mid-way snack station.
Three Peaks Trail Features
Mitch Owens (BLM) has been very busy out at Three Peaks and has added several new bridge features. The ones I have ridden are on the Lost World section. If you have not seen them go give them a try.

Three Peaks Trail Work Day
On June 8th we had a very successful day out at Three Peaks building some new trail features. The CCCC teamed up with the BLM Cedar City Field Office to build a 60 ft. and 40 ft. bridges over sandy areas of the Three Peaks Loop. The materials were supplied by the BLM and the Club provided labor and a BBQ afterwards. Thanks to all those that came and participated.

Volunteers needed for “Ride the Gap” event
Annual Memorial Day Century Ride
Volunteer Opportunities – We need your help!
Help is needed at couple of events this summer. The first is a bike rodeo at East Elementary on May 21st from 8:45 am to noon. The club has been asked to do bike inspections again this year. This consists of checking the general condition of the student’s bike, adjusting seat height, inflating tires and making recommendations of any additional repairs that may be needed. We need three or four people. If you have a repair stand, pump and basic bike tools bring them. Please contact Chad Horman, 435-592-1846 or chorman@fs.fed.us if you are able to help.
Second event is the Tour de Utah on August 6. The tour starts off this year in Cedar City and volunteers are needed to staff the event. This will be a great opportunity for club members to be involved in the third highest ranked professional bike race in the US. Volunteers need to register at http://www.tourofutah.com/2013/volunteer . Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, and are required to sign a waiver. Individuals are asked to designate the start (Brian Head) or finish (Cedar City) areas that are preferred for each volunteer position.
Please consider helping at these events and sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm for cycling with others.

Trail work opportunities
DJ, at Over The Edge in Hurricane, has asked us to post this for any club members that might have an interest in doing some local trail work and getting some instructions for those of us who haven’t taken any trail work classes. I’m guessing there will be an OTE shop ride before the trail work.
If you want to get involved with trail maintenance and trail building we are starting free trail clinics. We will do four clinics. First trail maintenance clinic will be Dec 1st meeting at the Over The Edge shop (76E. 100S.) 3PM to go and work on the Hurricane Rim, Second one will be Jan 5th meeting at the shop 3:00 PM, third one will be Jan 26th meeting at the Quail Lake Trail Head 3:00 PM, and the fourth one will be February 9th meeting at the Quail Lake Trail Head 3:00 PM. The first two will consist of trail maintenance and the last two will be trail building.
These clinics will be done in conjunction with Dixie Mountain Bike Trails Association. Go check out their website http://www.dmbta.org and become a member.
